Facilities Subsector

Fast facts

The Health Services and Support - Facilities Subsector Collective Agreement covers approximately 61,332 health care support workers in British Columbia.

The Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU), the British Columbia Provincial Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) represent the employees in the Facilities subsector.

Care Aide is the largest job classification in the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA). This diverse bargaining unit also includes food service workers, cleaners, lab assistants and nursing unit assistants.

Status

On October 13, 2022 HEABC and the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) have ratified a three-year agreement for the period April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. HEABC and the FBA reached a tentative agreement on September 1, 2022 under the province’s Shared Recovery Mandate for 2022 public sector bargaining. This agreement supports the priorities of preserving sustainable services and maintaining operational/management flexibility.
